Deanna S. Miller

ALEXANDRIA – Deanna S. (Hayes) Miller, 54, passed away on Friday, June 25, 2021 at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis following a sudden illness of 11 days duration.
She was born on May 13, 1967 in Anderson to Joe Hayes and Karen Bowers Hayes and has lived in Alexandria all of her life.
Deanna was a graduate of Alexandria-Monroe High School, Class of 1985. She also held an Associate’s Degree in Accounting from International Business College.
Deanna’s life passion was investing herself in hundreds of young lives through the sport of volleyball. She has been assistant girls’ volleyball coach at Alexandria-Monroe High School for the past 20 years. She was recently named as the head coach of the program. She was a “team mom” for several years with the Munciana Volleyball Club. It is believed that as her three daughters played collegiate volleyball that she never missed one of their games.
Deanna was a giving person and was constantly doing things for other people, such as cooking and carrying in food when there was a need. She recently became a member of the Alexandria Lady Elks. She loved to travel and especially when a beach was the final destination. Deanna thoroughly enjoyed giving the male coaches in the AMHS athletic programs a hard time when it came to equal time and benefits for “her volleyball girls!” Deanna believed that “retail therapy” could make anyone feel better. She was a beautiful, vibrant star on life’s horizon. We are all so very blessed that our paths crossed with hers…
