Michael E. Hobbs

Michael E. “Mike” Hobbs, 37, of Elwood, passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2021 at Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis following an unexpected illness.
He was born July 3, 1983 in Elwood, the son of Frederick E. Hobbs and Nancy Louise (Carter) Hobbs.
Mike was a graduate of Elwood Community High School.
He worked in construction for Earl’s Roofing in Elwood for many years.
He married Rebecca J. “Becky” Dugger on March 24, 2021.
Mike attended Zion Chapel Church as a youngster and was later baptized in the First Missionary Baptist Church in Elwood.
His greatest passion was working on his Chevy truck.  He also enjoyed listening to music, walking, and riding his bike.  He had a great sense of humor and especially loved spending time with his family and friends.
Mike’s family includes his mother, Nancy L. Hobbs of Elwood; wife, Rebecca Hobbs of Elwood and formerly of Anderson; four children, Matthew (wife Kelsey) Simpson of Anderson, Malaki, Bayleigh and Alyssa; 10 siblings, Carla Yost (Karl Pigg) of Peru, Michelle Scholl (Trent Hicks) of Elwood, Ann Sparks (Roger) of Peru, Katina Capps (Tommy Cox) of Peru, Bennie Humphries of Elwood, Darrell (Debbie) Hobbs of Elwood, Randy (Mary) Hobbs of Texas, Larry (Bennie) Hobbs of Texas, Murvell (Debbie) Hobbs of Florida, and Kyle (Barb) Hobbs of Amboy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by his father; sister, Linda (Chuck) Stewart; maternal grandparents, Woodrow Carter and Minnie Mohler; and paternal grandparents, Frederick and Ethel Hobbs.
A funeral service celebrating Mike’s life will be conducted at 4 p.m. Friday, June 25, 2021 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Chris Ruder officiating. Cremation will follow the service.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, prior to the funeral at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home to help offset unexpected funeral expenses.
