TIPTON – Romelle Ann Jones, 85, of Tipton, Ind. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2020 at IU Health Tipton Hospital.
She was born in Tipton, Ind. on May 31, 1935 to Oscar and Geneice (Clouser) Porter.
She married Charles N. Jones on June 6, 1958. They shared 33 years of marriage before Charles passed away in 1991.
Romelle graduated from Tipton High School in 1953. After graduating, she started her career in the banking industry with Tipton Building and Loan at the age of 18. She worked in the same industry until the day she retired in the early 1990s.
Romelle was a member of West Street Christian Church. She also belonged to the Ladies Legion.
Romelle loved nothing more than to spend time with her family and friends. She enjoyed chatting on the phone, it was more of a hobby of hers; nothing made her happier than to engage in conversation with those she loved. She was the true epitome of “never met a stranger.” She loved to greet anyone she met whether it be at church or out and about in the town.
Her laugh was contagious. She was loving and caring, her kindness surpassed all others. Romelle had a sensitive heart for others and she will be so deeply missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing her.
Left to carry on Romelle’s legacy of love is her daughter Marla Ryan.
Romelle was welcomed into Heaven by her parents, Oscar and Geneice Porter; husband, Charles Jones; son-in-law John J. Ryan; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. at Brookside Cemetery in Windfall, Ind.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Taylor & Cowan Funeral Home.
Please feel free to share a special memory of Romelle or leave a condolence for her family on her tribute wall.
