Scholarships
Tipton County Sheriff Frank Fritch announced that the Indiana Sheriff’s Association will be awarding college scholarships to qualified high school seniors or college students who are pursuing a degree in criminal justice studies. There will be approximately 40 – $500 scholarships awarded to qualifying students throughout the state. To qualify, the applicant must be an Indiana resident, be a current member of the association or a dependent child or grandchild of a current member of the association, attend an Indiana college or university, major in a law enforcement field and enroll as a full-time student (12 hours). Applications to apply are available from your high school counselor, the sheriff’s office or by writing to the Indiana Sheriff’s Association, P.O. Box 19127, Indianapolis, IN 46219 and requesting an application. All applications must be received by the association by April 1.

Singles Dance
A singles dance takes place each Friday night from 8 p.m. to midnight at the Booster Club, 150 S. Reed Rd. in Kokomo. For more information, call (765)457-7619 or email at SJS3394@att.net. The event is sponsored by Singles Network.
 

Turkey Shoot
Tipton’s Moose Lodge will have a turkey shoot Sunday. Still board shoots begin at noon. This is open to the public and children are welcome with an adult. Only stock shotguns are used. This is open to the public.

Jewelry fundraiser
There will be a jewelry sale from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Tipton Hospital’s north lobby. All proceeds will benefit the hospital’s wish list.

TAC
Tipton Advancement Committee (TAC) will meet at 7 p.m. Today at the Tipton County Foundation Building. Guest speakers from Ivy Tech and the U.S. Census Bureau will be featured.

 

Jelly Bean Challenge
During the month of March in the children’s department of the Tipton County Public Library children are asked to stop by and guess how many jellbeans are in the jar! There is a jar for kids 3-6 and one for kids 7-12 years old. The closest guess wins the jar.

THS Class of 1975

Art exhibit
A children’s art exhibit is currently on display during March at the Tipton County Public Library. Friends of the Library sponsor this show during National Art Month.

Solid Waste meeting
Tipton County Solid Waste District Board of Directors will meet at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the upper conference room of the McNeal Building, located at 116 S. Main St. in Tipton.

Fish/chicken fry
Tipton’s Knights of Columbus will host an all-you-can-eat fish and chicken fry from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. The KofC Hall is located at 222 S. Independence St. in Tipton.

 

Bake sale planned
A bake sale will take place at Trinity Wesleyan Church on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. during Upward Basketball games. All proceeds will benefit Relay for Life of Tipton County.

Clean out your Medicine Cabinet
Marsh Hometown Market will host a “Clean out your Medicine Cabinet” event from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. The two-day event will provide central Indiana residents with a safe and environmentally-friendly way to get rid of expired and leftover prescriptions and over-the-counter medicines. During this event, individuals will be able to safely dispose of medications that meet the following criteria:
• Pills, capsules and liquids (no needles, inhalers, sharps, or aerosols)
• Medicine must be in original container with original label intact
• Medicines that have the words “toxic,” “corrosive,” “reactive” or “ignitable” on them will not be accepted
• Only one type of medication can be in a single container – no mixtures
• No pill organizers will be accepted.
• No controlled or illegal substances (check with your regular pharmacist if you’re not sure whether a medicine is controlled.)

Tipton County Commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. Monday on the second floor of the Tipton County Courthouse.










 

 

Neuro Network
A support group is planned for people with Neurological diseases or spinal cord injuries and family. The support group will be the first Wednesday and the third Thursday of every month. Voter registration
The Tipton County Clerk's office is open for voters' registration 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Persons wishing to vote in the May 4, 2010 primary must be registered in the proper place by April 5. Any questions may be directed to Bonita Guffey at 675-2795.

Fundraiser planned
Sigma Delta Pi (a local teacher sorority) will have a fundraiser at Tipton’s Pizza Hut from 5 to 8 p.m. Today. All proceeds will benefit scholarships and materials for the Tipton County Public Library.

TCSC
Tipton Community School Board members will meet in executive session at 5:30 p.m. Today. The executive session will be followed by a regular meeting. Both meetings take place in the school’s administration office.

Pinewood Derby
TIpton Cub Scout Pack 594 invites all youth, grades K-5 to participate in the open-class Pinewood Derby which will take place on March 13 in the community room at Tipton Elementary School. Tickets available
Tickets are available for the upcoming “BUS”TIN’ LOOSE No. 15, “A Brake from the Wheel.” The event takes place March 20 and 21. Tickets are available at Tipton Ace Hardware, Faye’s Northside Cafe, Tipton Community School Corporation and Horton’s DO-IT-ALL Center.

Scholarship
The Charter Jet Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) is accepting applications for the Charter Jet Chapter Scholarship. To qualify, you must be a student at Elwood Community High School or John H. Hinds Career Center. Kindergarten round-up
St. John the Baptist Catholic School will have preschool and kindergarten registration from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday and 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, March 12. Call the school at 675-4741 for more information.

Soup Supper planned
Hobbs Christian Church will host its annual soup supper from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the church. Chili, vegetable, potato soup, sandwich and dessert will be availible. Donations will be taken.

Breakfast planned
An all-you-can-eat pancake, egg and sausage breakfast is planned from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Greentown Fair Grounds Masonic Lodge. The dinner is sponsored by the Wildcat Creek Tractor and Engine Club.

Learn to Crochet
Learn how to crochet at this hands on library program. Matthew Garner and Kara Petty will give you step-by-step instructions. The library will provide yarn, hook and instructions for a small fee of $5. If you want to bring your own supplies tell us when you register and no fee will be charged. Class is Saturday, March 13 at 1pm, ages 12-adult.

Breakfast planned
St. John's Church will host an all-you-can-eat breakfast on Sunday. Menu includes sausage, pancakes, scrambled eggs, milk, juice, and coffee. Serving begins at 9 a.m. and continues until around noon. A free will offering will benefit the Tipton County Ministerial Association. The public is invited.
