Michael Richards
Scott Michael Richards, 23, of Tipton, and formerly of
Elwood, died unexpectedly Friday, Feb. 5, 2010 at his
residence in Tipton.
He was born May 9, 1986 in Anderson.
He was a 2004 graduate of Elwood Community High School where
he was very active in the high school baseball program.
Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Army
and was stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas where soldiers
departed to serve in Afghanistan.
He was a member of the East Main Street Christian Church in
Elwood.
He formerly worked at Red Gold and Wabash Alloys Company.
He was a loving father, an avid outdoorsman, a NASCAR fan,
Colts football fan and enjoyed working on cars. He
especially enjoyed spending time with his daughters.
Survivors include his wife, Evette N. (Holmes) Richards of
Tipton; four daughters, Adrianna, Tessa, Caytee, and Kileigh,
all at home; his parents, David L. and Jennifer L.
(Townsend) Richards of Elwood; a brother, David A. Richards
of Elwood; maternal grandmother, Judy Townsend of Elwood;
paternal grandmothers, Karen “Sue” Richards of Elwood and
Anita Wheeler of Elwood; paternal great-grandmother, Wilma
Lee of Elwood; father-in-law, John Holmes of Sharpsville;
mother-in-law, Penny (Young) Clabaugh of Tipton;
brother-in-law, Kagen Holmes; sister-in-law, Tawni Holmes;
aunts and uncles, Kim (Joe) Hamon, Don (Cassie) Townsend,
Mike (Kelli) Richards and Cindy (Mike) Carmody; and several
great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Donald
Townsend; paternal grandfather, David M. Richards; and
paternal grandfather, George “Scott” Wheeler.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010
at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home, with the Rev. Roger
Gardner of East Main Street Christian Church officiating.
Burial will take place in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
Military graveside honors will be conducted by the United
States Army at the cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral
home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to
the Scott Richards Children’s Fund through the funeral home.

Ruth Wimer
CARMEL – Ruth Wimer, 106, Carmel, and a former
Tipton resident, died at 6:40 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010 at
Summer Trace in Carmel.
She was born Feb. 9, 1903 in Tipton County, the eldest
daughter of William A. and Emma (Meyer) Wimer.
A life-long member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, she graduated
from Blakers College and Indiana State University, with
graduate work at the Universities of Michigan, Wisconsin and
Indiana.
She taught Home Economics in Frankton and Kempton, was 4-H
Club leader in Madison County for three summers, Home
Demonstration Agent in Madison County for six years and in
Tipton County for 25 years.
Ruth held membership in county, state and national
professional organizations. For several years she served on
the board of directors of the Tipton County Housing
Corporation and was secretary for several years. She
assisted with the reorganization of the Tipton County
Historical Society, served as president for three terms and
on the board of directors and the building committee. She
was the associate editor for the history book Tipton County:
Her Land and People, which was published in 1976.
She received distinguished awards from the National Home
Demonstration Agents Associa-tion, Purdue University and the
Indiana Historical Society.
Ruth is survived by nieces and nephews, Betty Jo (Wimer)
Beever of Tipton, Carol Ann (Wimer) Svane of Michigan, David
Schulenburg of Fort Wayne, Jerry Schulenburg of Noblesville
and Diane (Schulenburg) Schumacher of Arizona.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Wimer and a
sister, Dorotha Mae (Wimer) Schulenburg.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 11 at Emanuel
Lutheran Church, 1385 S. St. Rd. 19 in Tipton. The Rev. Robb
Roloff will be presiding. Burial will follow in Fairview
Cemetery in Tipton.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at
Young-Nichols Funeral Home in Tipton and from 10 to 11 a.m.
Thursday at the church.

Dorotha Marie Bryant
WESTFIELD – Dorotha Marie Bryant, 93, Westfield and formerly
of the Walnut Grove community, died Feb. 6, 2010 at
Riverview Hospital.
She was born May 25, 1916 to Samuel and Zula M. (Bray) Berg.
She was a graduate of Walnut Grove High School Class of
1934. She was a homemaker and had worked as a nurse's aide
at Tipton County Memorial Hospital. She was a member of
Omega Christian Church.
She married Nolan M. Bryant on April 23, 1938. He preceded
her in death April 16, 1994.
Surviving her are two sons, Roger Bryant of Noblesville and
Dale Bryant of Shelbyville; a daughter, Joann Whetstone of
Brownsburg; five grandchildren: 12 great-grandchildren; and
three step-great-grandchildren.
Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in
death by two brothers, Harvey Berg and Clarence Berg and two
sisters, Ruth Seal and Ruby Mosbaugh.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hartley
Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel. Pastor Neal Brown will be
officiating. Burial will follow at the Arcadia Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today also at the
funeral home.
