Letters to the Editor

To the citizens of Elwood,
I want to thank everyone who came out to play basket bingo at the Elks on April 30. We had a great time and made some money for the Madison County Youth Center playground fund.
I want to give a special thank you to some people. I want to thank Laura Ash for the baskets and everything else she did to make the bingo happen. I wanted to thank the Elks for letting us use the building and bingo machine. I want to thank all the wonderful people at New Beginnings Fellowship for helping at the bingo and baking yummy cookies and brownies. I also want to thank my Girl Scout Troop 373 for helping sell the concessions.
Thanks again and be looking for more ways that you can help raise money for these children.
God bless you,
Kim Marley

To the editor,

I am writing to let everyone know what I think should be done. We had a young man that lost his life this past weekend. But what we all should consider is the fact that he did go overseas, he did fight for our and others freedom. He came home with a purple heart doing so.
I believe for that reason this city and its entire people should fly their flags at half mast to show their respect for him and his family.
I am a patriot guard rider and I know we will be there for our fallen hero and I believe that there are a few people in this town that think the same.
Don’t let this young man be just another man that died. Let everyone know that you believed in him and what he did for him and his famiily and all the others that have given their lives and that have fought for us. It’s time for Elwood to show their patriotism.

Super delegate?
To the editor:

I was watching CNN news recently and they had a poll question asking if Hillary Clinton was to win the popular vote, does she deserve the nomination for president?
I didn’t see anywhere on my election ballot where I was to vote for “super delegate.” My question is, why do a select few who are to be known as “super delegates” get to pick the nominee?
Earlier in the year, back in late winter, some people out in Iowa and some other states voted. Apparently, they must be “super nominators.” While we were sitting around on our duffs, those people were deciding who we were going to vote for.
Those self-proclaimed “super nominators” ran off some of the candidates. We here, the good, hard-working people of Indiana, lost out on the process.
Myself, I believe everyone in this country should vote the same day. We as Americans are supposed to be created equal. Well, apparently not, most of us are becoming second class. We don't’ seem to have the same equality as the “super delegates” and “super nominators.”
