Curves offers free classes
Curves is offering free weight management classes. Sessions are open
to everyone at noon Saturday and at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Call 557-0053
to make a reservation. Curves is located at 1139 North Anderson

County choral festival
to be in Frankton
The annual Madison County Choral Festival will begin at 7:30 p.m.
today at Frankton High School. Six schools will participate
including, Frankton, Alexandria, Elwood, Lapel, Madison-Grant and
Pendleton Heights. The public is invited.
Smith to speak at library
The March author, Suzanne Bailer Smith will speak at 7 p.m. today
at the Elwood Public Library. Smith will talk about her book,
“Laughter: A Woman’s Best Defense.” The book is a compilation of
humorous essays about the tribulations that women face. The public
is invited to attend.
Longaberger/Vera
Bradley bingo party
Delta Theta Tau will host a Longaberger/Vera Bradley bingo party
March 18 at the ECHS cafeteria. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Games
begin at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available by calling 552-7953 or at
the door. Prizes total $2,200. Proceeds go toward scholarships.
VFW to serve dinner
The VFW will serve steak sandwiches and chicken strips for dinner
from 5 to 7 p.m. today. Carry outs will be available by calling
552-9154. The public is invited.
HR Miller scholarship
The HR Miller $1,000 continuing education scholarship is available
for anyone with at least one year of college. The deadline to apply
is April 1. Applications are available at the ECHS guidance office.
Bowling Classic
The St.Vincent Mercy Hospital Foundation Bowling Classic will be
held Saturday at Wells Lanes at 1 p.m. Lanes are still available,
however, reservations are required. Teams consist of five bowlers
and the cost is $200 per team. There will also be a Wii Tourna-ment
that anyone can enter for $5. Lane sponsorship is also available.
All proceeds will benefit the purchase of new chairs for the

Lamp to be raffled
A House of Glass lamp donated to the ECHS After Prom committee will
be raffled and the winner drawn March 15. Tickets are $5 and can be
purchased by calling Carrie Arbuckle, 620-8208 or Dianna Boston,
620-2721.
Upgrading water treatment plant
The water treatment plant is being upgraded. Residents may
experience discolored water for the next few weeks as the plants
will be shut down periodically during the upgrade.
Landon Guild
card party
The annual Landon Guild card party will be Monday, March 15 at the
St. Joseph Center. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Games will begin at
6:30 p.m. Snacks, drinks, coney dogs and nachos will be sold.
Tickets may be purchased from any Guild member or by calling
552-2524 or 552-6704. Tickets will not be sold at the door. Chances
are being sold for a lamp donated by House of Glass. Proceeds will
be used to purchase equipment for St.Vincent Mercy Hospital.
Farmers’ Market needs manager
The Elwood Farmers’ Market is in need of a market managers for the
2010 season. Anyone interested is asked to call Teri Kane,

Bariatric Support Group
The St.Vincent Mercy Hospital Bariatric Support Group will meet at 6 p.m. March 23 in the Sr. Andrea Room. Anyone
who has had the surgery or who is considering this procedure is

MCCHC open house
The Madison County Com-munity Health Center invites the public to an
open house from 4 to 6 p.m. March 25. The center is located at 1518
Main Street. Those attending will take a tour of the center and meet
the staff. Door prizes will be given.
St.Vincent Mercy to host blood drive
St.Vincent Mercy Hospital will host a community blood drive Thursday
from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Sr. Andrea room. Walk-in donors and
first-time donors are encouraged to participate. Proof of

scholarship
The Class of 1949 of EHS is offering a scholarship for a second year
or beyond college student. Applications are available at the ECHS
