Youth summer job fair
Sponsored by Mayor's Youth Commission and Alexandria-Monroe Chamber of Commerce a job fair will be May 15 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, East of Chicago Pizza on St. Rd. 9. It is for students currently in grades 9-12. The job fair is a place where numerous local businesses will have applications available for you to fill out so you can get a job.

Square Dance
May 18 at the Rangeline Community Center, 1405 N. Rangeline Rd., Anderson Footloose Square Dance Club will host a Square Dance. Pre-rounds are at 6 p.m. and square dance from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Food table, door prizes and a half pot will be part of the evening. For more information call (765) 643-3833.

Service Club

CCC Cookbooks
“Recipes and Remembrances,” historical collection of recipes from Christian Congregation Church women is available from any Church member.

Annual Rummage Sale
The Alexandria Care Center is having its annual rummage sale Friday, May 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will feature a bake sale, crafts, books, puzzles, miscellaneous, dishes and toys.

AMHS CLASS OF 1963

Golden marriages
During the annual Strawberry Social June 7, couples who have been married 50 or more years will be honored. Pre-registration should be done at the Alexandria Community Center by calling Diane Woodsides at 724-7728. A drawing will occur during the festival for a catered dinner for the winning couple and several of their friends.

Deployed Military
The Alexandria Community Vision group is looking for names and addresses of military personnel deployed overseas to honor them at the Strawberry Ice Cream Social. Call Beverly Collins with names of persons deployed at 724-7449 or Marilyn or Bob Lenhart, 724-7999. The Straw-berry Ice Cream Social will be held on Saturday, June 7 from noon to 4 p.m. It is asked that the family members join in this event to honor their son or daughter or loved one.

  Garden Series
The 2008 Garden Series program sponsored by the Madison County Master Gardener Association will have a presentation on floral arranging May 17, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Anderson Public Library on the third floor. Diana Etchison, florist at Ousley's Harvest Gardens in Alexandria will share tips on making professional looking floral arrangements that can be used at home. This event is open to the public with free admission. Everyone is welcome. The Garden Series is held the third Saturday of each month through November. Support group for breastfeeding mothers
Community Hospital Anderson offers breastfeeding mothers a free support group every Friday from 10:30 a.m. until noon, and every Monday from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The group is the only one offered in Madison County, and is a great way to meet friends and future playmates for your baby. Baby scales and measuring tapes are available to monitor your baby’s growth, and breast pump rental stations are on site. Siblings are welcome. The group is held at CHA’s Education Center, 1923 N. Senior Guild
The Senior Guild, an organization for people age 50 and older, offers its members companionship and fun activities. Annual dues are $10. Meetings are on the second Thursday of the month at the Senior Guild room, 119 W. Church St. at noon. Members bring a covered dish and play Bingo. Every Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. Euchre cards are played. Spring revival
Rev. Larry Leckrone will lead the Spring Revival at the Alexandria Church of the Nazarene, 1401 S. Harrison St., May 17 through May 21 at 6 p.m., Sunday will be at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Alexandria Dive Team
The Alexandria Dive and rescue team is in need of donations of small boats and trailers. Monetary donations are also needed. An account for donations is set up at the Alexandria Police Department.

Byerly Rummage Sale
Byerly’s will host their second annual City Wide Rummage Sale on May 16 and May 17 at Byerly’s, 405 S. Park Ave. Booth space is available under tents or in the open. Tables are included.
